Distinguished delegates, good morning. Welcome to the last day of our meeting of the Legal Subcommittee of COPOS. In just a minute, I will suspend the plenary to continue with our informal consultations on the draft report and the chair's summary, as I informed you in yesterday's informals in the afternoon. After the informals, We will come back to plenary to proceed to the adoption of our report within the framework of agenda item 15, report to the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. In this regard, I would suspend, and I would like to remind delegations in the room that the informal consultations are for member states, and so I would kindly ask the observers to please leave the room. And so I now suspend the plenary.
Distinguidas delegaciones, declaro abierta nuestra sesión. Les doy unos momentos para que—
Let's just wait a few minutes for people to take their seats. Dear delegates, as you can see, drafting the documents took longer than the half hour I'd set aside, bearing in mind the consultations that also took place here in the room. We now have a clean version of the draft report and the draft of the chair's summary, which will be on the website very soon. Bearing in mind that it's only— we only have 4 minutes left before 1 o'clock. I will suspend the plenary now and we will come back to the plenary at 3 PM at a formal meeting to deal with the agenda item of the adoption of the report. Where we will proceed according to past practice to approve the report paragraph by paragraph. So I would ask delegations to please pay attention to documents being published on the website, and we'll be back here at 3 PM to consider other report. And before I close now, I see India is requesting the floor. I give India the floor.
Thank you, Chair, and I understand that we don't have time now, but we couldn't able to be in the morning. We heard with great patience about this morning. We wanted to make a statement because in the morning We couldn't able to convey our point of view in the morning session. Chair, we heard with great patience this morning the discussions on the use of the phrase developing countries. The term has been accepted in the UN and continues to be widely used in the documentation. It is without doubt important for developing countries to retain a reference to this as it reflects the key developmental facets in all UN's work. Our delegation supports the reference to be Retained in the report, the fact is that OASD recognizes that there is a varying degrees of economic development among states. A perspective as to whether some countries are developing or developed should not be the basis for not accepting this phrase. In the interest of achieving consensus, we urge member states to show flexibility that we can have a constructive outcome. Thank you, Chair, and thank you once again for giving us the floor.
Agradezco a la delegación de.
I thank India for their.
Statement.
As I mentioned, I will now suspend and we will come back at 3 PM. Before I do that, the Russian Federation would like the floor.
Yes, thank you very much, Chairperson. We have a question for clarification purposes. Have we correctly understood that both documents will be uploaded on onto the site, the website, the draft report and your summary. Is that the way it's going to be? The draft report that we will be giving consideration to after lunch, but the Chair's summary, of course, will remain as it is with the exception of one or two contentious items, perhaps. Is that it?
Es correcto.
Yes, that is correct. It will be made available to all delegations. So both documents will be made available to delegations in a cleaned-up version, and those documents will be what we use at our meeting starting at 3 p.m.
So with that clarification, Thank you.
Thank you for that clarification. And I see no further requests for the floor. I will now adjourn the formal meeting, and we'll be back here at the plenary at 3 PM. So the meeting is adjourned. Thank you.
