Annual Meeting of Chairpersons of the Human Rights Treaty Bodies
The annual Meeting of Chairpersons of the Human Rights Treaty Bodies provides a forum for members of the ten human rights treaty bodies (Human Rights Committee, Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Committee on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women, Committee against Torture, Committee on the Rights of the Child, Committee on Migrant Workers, Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Committee on Enforced Disappearance and the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture) to discuss their work and consider ways to enhance the effectiveness of the treaty body system as a whole. Issues addressed at these meetings have included, among other things, the streamlining and overall improvement of human rights reporting procedures, harmonisation of the Committees' methods of work, follow-up to World Conferences, and financial issues. The 38th session of the Chairs of the human rights treaty bodies takes place in Geneva (15 - 19 June 2026).

Distinguished participants, Excellencies, Chairs, as we come to the conclusion of our meeting, we will now proceed to Agenda Item 13, adoption of the conclusions of the 38th Meeting of the Chairs of the Human Rights Treaty Bodies. Over past days, we have engaged in constructive— As you know— —online reporting and greater transparency —open mind. —and programs, the Assistant Secretary General, the Director of Council Treaties and Mechanisms Division, NGOs and civil society organizations, the Coordinating Committee of Special Procedures, and the Special Advisor for Secretary General on Prevention of Genocide. The draft conclusions before us reflect the outcome of those deliberations. The floor is open now for any final comments on the final conclusions. If there are any comments, I will invite speakers. If there are no further comments— I see May I take it that conclusions of the 38th meeting of the chairs are adopted? Yes. I see nodding. It is so decided. Distinguished chairs, distinguished participants, colleagues, we have now reached the conclusion of our meeting and the adoption of its conclusions. Before bringing our work to a close, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all chairs, participants, and members of secretariats for their commitment, cooperation, and constructive engagement throughout these past days. Thank you. I would also like to thank the interpreters for their work this week. The thoughtful exchanges and collaborative spirit demonstrated during this meeting have contributed significantly to our common efforts to strengthen the treaty body system.
