The 20th International Human Rights Summit is a distinguished global forum hosted by United for Human Rights and its youth initiative, Youth for Human Rights International, in collaboration with leading non-governmental organizations and proudly sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Timor-Leste to the United Nations.
Bringing together youth leaders, government representatives, diplomats, human rights advocates, and civil society organizations from more than 70 countries, the Summit reflects a growing international commitment to advancing human dignity and justice through education. Marking its 25th anniversary, this year's non-political theme, "Education for Peace - A 25-Year Legacy," highlights the enduring role of human rights education in building sustainable peace. The Summit draws upon key international frameworks, including the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 2012 United Nations General Assembly Resolution 66/137 on Human Rights Education and Training, and the 2024 UNESCO Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development. Since its inception in 2004, the International Human Rights Summit has become a respected international platform for dialogue, collaboration, and youth empowerment. By promoting human rights education and fostering intercultural understanding, the Summit continues to inspire a new generation of leaders committed to equality, dignity, and peace for all.
