Developed as part of the UN80 Initiative, the Data Commons makes it easier to find and use publicly available data and statistics from across the United Nations system through a single platform. It will provide Member States and other users with simpler access to a wealth of trusted information to support evidence-informed policymaking, national planning and responses to interconnected global challenges. The Secretary-General will provide opening remarks at the event. On behalf of participating United Nations system entities, Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs and Executive Director Catherine Russell of the United Nations Children's Fund, will then introduce the Data Commons to demonstrate its main features. The Secretary-General will provide opening remarks, followed by strategic perspectives from the project co-leads, and an interactive introduction to the new platform, its main features, and practical use cases.
