This report is submitted pursuant to the request by the General Assembly, in paragraph 42 (b) of the Pact for the Future (action 21), that the Secretary-General undertake a review on the future of all forms of United Nations peace operations. In the report, the Secretary-General describes the spectrum of United Nations peace operations, comprising peacekeeping operations and special political missions, in a changing geopolitical landscape and offers recommendations and commitments for resetting those operations for a new geopolitical era.
