On the sidelines of the High-Level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, OIF and CARICOM are organizing a High-Level meeting to mobilize partners for Haiti's stability.
Objectives: Increase the mobilization of international partners and call for enhanced solidarity in support of strengthened inter-Haitian dialogue, as well as the efforts undertaken by the Provisional Electoral Council to advance preparations for constitutional reform and upcoming elections. Encourage high-level representatives of States — particularly from Francophone and Caribbean countries — as well as partner international and regional organizations to translate their commitments into concrete support for the MSS and PNH, and in preparation for the electoral process. Haiti is in the grip of a multidimensional crisis (security, political, economic and humanitarian) marked by widespread violence, growing control of gangs over the capital Port-au-Prince, corruption, the fragility of rule-of-law institutions, recurrent and massive human rights violations, kidnappings and forced displacements.
