This solemn session will commemorate the legacy of His Highness the Father Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al‑Thani. Convened in the UN ECOSOC Chamber, an opening address by H.E. Khalilur Rahman, the President of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly, and the observance of one minute of silence.
The program will feature formal statements delivered by H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and H.E. Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN. Additional statements will be delivered on behalf of regional bodies by the Chairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Arab Group, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement before the session is formally adjourned by the President of the General Assembly.
